Hermès Home – a new concept!

Paris-based RDAI (the agency responsible for the architecture of all Hermès stores globally) has knocked the ball out of the part with their bold concept for the new 17 Rue de Sèvres store (in the 6th arrondissement), this is Hermès’ third store in the French capital, after 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré and 42 Avenue George V.

A change of tone for the iconic French luxury house if the fact that the new store is located on the  left bank – rive gauge – on the site of the former swimming pool known as “Lutetia”, built in 1935 by Lucien Béguet in Art Nouveau style.

Of course, we link transgressive brands like YSL with the left bank and not the conservative and classic Hermès brand… it will be interesting to see how the new 1,400 square-metre store, which represents a new chapter in the history of Hermès, will be rolled into the rest of the brand identity.

The store will showcases the full range of the Parisian design house’s products on two levels. One third of the store will be devoted to Hermès new range for the home.

There will also be a leisure aspect –  visitors can browse in the Chaîne d’Encre bookshop or indulge themselves at Le Plongeoir tearoom.

The store opens 19 November 2010so mark that date in your calendar!

King Karl’s Dubai Project

It seems that not everyone is impressed with Dubai’s new fashion  island – Isla Moda -  which Karl Lagerfeld is helping to design…

”Fashion people don’t have enough places in which to isolate themselves from the Others, who don’t care or know about the latest and greatest in Chanel fur boots and Hermès beach towels. What they really need, rather than private cars, parties, and planes, is their own private island, naturally, with a foreign name to make it sound even fancier, and a launch date sometime after the worst economic crash in decades has apparently begun to right itself. Well, friends, plebeians, loaded people: That time is approaching at last!” Amy Odell [Editor New York Magazine's The Cut]

Rich, Striking Eyes…

We loved Estée Lauder’s Tom Pecheux, when he revolutionized a top Japanese beauty brand and he seems  to be shaking things up at Lauder as well!

He introduced his vision for the Blue Dahlia Pure Color Collection for smoldering eyes, shimmering lips and bold nails at Derek Lam’s Autumn/Winter 2010 Fashion Show at  New York fashion Week.

In this intensely seductive collection eyes take center stage in electric blue and vintage violet, lips are shimmering in subtle shades of pale pink and raspberry shine while rich nail hues of deep navy and iridescent lilac complete the look.

The Blue Dahlia Fall 2010 collection will be available at all Estée Lauder counters in the Middle East  from November 2010.

“For me, as a makeup artist, the beauty of the Pure Color EyeShadow Palettes is that there are five colors and textures.  To be able to play and to build up makeup from a neutral to smoky to funky, playful face is what I love.”

Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, Estée Lauder

Golden Child

We all know that the best decision that Louis Vuitton made was to hire Marc Jacobs. He showed the brand’s Spring-Sumer 2011 collection yesterday in Paris.

We especially loved his bold gold 20s inspired fringe cocktail dress and this Mandarin-collar bronze accented suit.

Everything wasn’t metallic inspired as the designer also infused dramatic and disruptive colour combinations, which left us a little puzzled, but still appreciative of his creative genius.

Gorgeous New Collection

We had not heard of Erin Fetherston, but this designer who is distributed in Dubai via Symphony Boutique, had an incredible Autumn/Winter 2010 collection.

The designer takes inspiration from the iconic Chelsea girl, Nico and Fetherston references the singer’s bohemian style in a collection that balances soft romantic dresses with Rock’n'Roll tailoring, perfect for the poetess at heart.

Bold bling

Kara Ross Fine Jewellery recently launched a new line of accessories inspired by modern architecture talents, Frank Lloyd Wright and Sir Norman Foster.

The pieces are not for the faint hearted. Bold and reminiscent of the 80s the yum pieces are made of stained glass and gemstone (vivid sapphires) set in 18Kt gold.

Resort time…

We’ve all heard of the allure of Cape Cod, the legendary resort on the East coast of the United States and Hermès has named its new elegant timepiece after the resort – the Cape Cod Tonneau.

This model’s set in diamond-set rose gold, thereby endowing it with an even more precious and authentic dimension. The soft lines of the case extend over the lugs to form a pure, timelessly elegant shape.

Enhanced by the warm glow of 750 rose gold, it is set with 52 full-cut diamonds featuring G and F colour (Rare White and Rare White +) and extreme clarity (Top Wesselton VVS), which serve to accentuate its understated lines.

Love the alligator leather strap, which comes in a choice of deep black or Etruscan brown sets the final Hermès signature touch.
