Okay we all know about the brand’s bold colourful prints, when we heard about the new Vanessa Friedman book we knew it would be something impactful.
This is a story of aristocratic splendour and grandeur confronted with the challenges of stark post-war hardship. It tells the story of Emilio Pucci: a man, a fashion designer, a creative genius, a brand of worldwide renown.
Pucci is a tale of innovation stretching back over 60 years, recounting a brand that was among the first to bear a logo, which was a pioneer of diversification into interiors, athletic wear and accessories.
It introduced free-flowing, lightweight fabrics, pop art prints and a proprietary, revolutionary colour palette into womenswear while constantly expanding the frontiers of fabric and printing technologies.
Propelled into the international spotlight by fashion icons such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Marilyn Monroe, the house today remains as vibrant and relevant as ever.
The book retails at approximately AED1,060 and will be available for sale in the Emilio Pucci boutique at The Dubai Mall from August 2010.
About the author: Vanessa Friedman is fashion editor of The Financial Times, where she writes a weekly style column and edits The Business of Fashion supplements. Previously, she was the features director of In Style UK and contributed regularly to The Economist, The New Yorker, Vogue and Entertainment Weekly.

Singer Justin Timberlake and Canadian model, Noot Sear are the faces for the Givenchy Play fragrances. Last year Timberlake was embraced as the modern Givenchy man and fronted the campaign for Play for Him and with the recently added Play for Her, the brand has opted to bring him back and market the singer and model ‘as a couple’!
Recently Givenchy CEO Alain Lorenzo launched the new offering to press in Paris and sat with Timberlake to explain the concept further. This new Givenchy TV advert was made under exceptional conditions: it required two nights of filming at the Eiffel Tower, which was especially reserved for private use.
It was created by Pierre Morel, who has worked for a long time with Luc Besson and whose recent creations include the thrillers Taken, in 2009, and From Paris With Love, in 2010.
The concept for the still image is of a couple who are partners in crime, who together are capable of bringing a buzz to Paris. It was shot by Tom Munro, the virtuoso of celebrity portraits and fashion series.
